You know the feeling.
You’ve spent all this time looking into a place to stay, and you finally check into your room. You can’t wait to kick your shoes off and fling yourself on to the bed after such a long drive. But after a few short moments of would-be comfort, you suddenly realize you aren’t the only one staying in your room with you: stale, odorous remnants of everyone else’s visit is lingering in there also!
That stale, musty smell that so many hotel properties have is because of what’s known as poor indoor air quality. Not only is it alarmingly unpleasant to experience, it’s also really bad for your health.
Now, imagine a different scenario:
Upon arrival to Turlock Inn, you observe that the grounds are well-maintained, the lobby is decorated beautifully, and the staff member who checked you in is professional, friendly, and eager to help. You proceed to your room, switch on the lights, fling your shoes off, and dive gloriously into bed onto a top rated pillow-top mattress. It feels like a home away from home, complete with a microwave, hair dryer, refrigerator, coffee mugs and coffee pot, flat screen TV, healthy, organic bath and body products and fluffy white towels in the bathroom. The only thing that’s missing? That stale, stagnant air smell from the other hotels.
Why is this room’s air so much fresher than the other place?
A constantly recirculated air ventilation system.
Because Turlock is situated in the Central Valley, we’re exposed to more poor outdoor air quality than most of the other parts of the United States. That’s all the more reason to make sure that your indoor air quality isn’t compromised. You’d think that every hotel, not just hotels here in the Turlock area, would think of this, right?
Here’s the thing; in order to increase profits, most hotel rooms are not designed with an air exchange system. The few that do use one have a very low air exchange rate. In many rooms, the exhaust fan is switched on and off when the bathroom light is turned on and off. This is concerning, considering what happens to the steam from the shower you and your family just took. Steam that is left in the room seeps into the fabric and carpet. What is left on the wall turns into mildew, which over time, starts smelling musty. (Most hotels actually just invest in various types of air fresheners to mask the smell.)
Here at the Turlock Inn, we proudly utilize an innovative and effective method to address this common problem. Our indoor air re-circulation and ventilation system replaces 40cfm (cubic feet per minute) of air, 24/7/365 in every single room on our property.
This keeps the air in the room fresh and eliminates that stale, stagnant, stuffy remnant. In turn, this ensures that you get a good night’s rest and guarantees that steam from the shower doesn’t stand a chance to infiltrate the fabric or mildew the walls.
We always focus on the health of the room and its occupants, although that does increase our costs of doing business. But at the end of the day, we feel that this extra cost is justified. Because that’s what hospitality is all about.
